We were woken at 6:00am with hot tea after a fairly sleepless night, the anticipation of the day ahead playing its part. After packing our belongings into our duffel bags ready for the porters, we all joined in the mess tent for a fabulous hot breakfast of toast, sausages, frittata and fried potatoes.
We set off with Shira Cave Camp as our goal for the day. Today was much steeper and the pathway was a combination of rock and steps made from tree roots. Steps that were definitely made for people with longer legs than mine! We ascended out of the rainforest, through clouds, and into the moorland vegetation zone. The whole group found today much tougher than yesterday, but we finally made it to Shira Cave Camp sitting at 3750m by mid-afternoon, and located our camp which was ready & waiting for us, thanks to the amazing team of porters we had supporting us. They even had hot drinks and popcorn waiting for us!
